Good question. Maybe some of our other readers will have their own response. I personally have always found a family friend at a local shelter, from an ad in the paper - a person had to move away. If a pet store had some animals from the shelter that they were showing for adoption I would definitely consider those pets to become a member of the family. We say hello to the cats when we walk through Petco. They are pets up for adoption.
